The Last Days of Tua: The Last Harvest/ A Última Vindima (Pedro Duarte)

This is a touching account of the history of some hard working people and their culture. Something like this has happened many times ever since the first humans were born and it feels like it will happen over and over as long as we are here on this planet ...

Some of my Facebook pictures

I haven't posted many photos of me, my family or my friends. No, what I like to post is weird, pretty or cute pictures that I find on the internet. I can't quite explain why I do this, and I can't guarantee that I shall go on doing so for the years to come, but for the moment I enjoy doing it, and that's what counts ....

Elsa Lanchester

Film Noir Photos: On the Set: Elsa Lanchester:  on the set of "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935)

I find this photo of a vintage worker - or an artisan? - carrying an expensive doll, presumably as a gift to a child he cares about so very touching. Obviously this man isn't rich and still he has got this doll for his daughter, sister or niece. Unless he has stolen it - which I chose to think not is the case - the expensive gift has cost him much out of his (presumably) meagre wages. That's beautiful and I love to think of the happiness he gives the child who receives this gift. Wonder what became of her - and of him .....
