As is well-known it's a historical fact that breeds of deities have followed upon breeds of deities. Beliefs have changed with social circumstances, and humans have accepted new deities as their best friends whom they may turn to in the days of need. Actually, humans have proven over and over again that what they expect from their gods is the same as they would expect from the neighbouhood thug whom they befriendied in order to gain influence or just protection in a dangerous world. Sometimes the needy humans feel that this system works, sometimes not, but the main point is that all of them resort to ideas about invisible powers outside of themselves which control their life. It's a crazy notion, but still it can't be ignored as part of the general human make-up as it seems to be part of the general idea of humans all over the planet. The gods may differ, but not the human wish for them and the help they want from them.
