Some thoughts about morals, good intentions, goodness and respectability

When it comes to humanity and good intentions I go for kindness because that is something we chose, and it may be what comes closest to the ideal of goodness. What makes some people think they are "good" or even "perfect", most often without being either? Are human beings always "good"? No, most of us are neither good nor bad, but our position as humans is unique: We are at the top of the food chain and living that position we may commit sins or bad acts knowing that we are not innocent like e.g. a lion killing a lamb. Knowing about life and death we still commit bad deeds. Some of us even without thinking anything of it, like e.g. a serial killer who don't regret his/her deeds and may even feel that his/her victims don't blame him/her for robbing them of their lives ....
We shall never always be pure or righteous in whatever we do although many see themselves that way. Many people, and especially women, opt for their own illusions of perfection of character. This illusion lies in a firm trust in their own blamelesness and total respectability. That means they feel they are always doing the right thing, more or less by instinct. However, that kind of respectability is based on lies, especially self delusions, as there is no such thing as a human being who was born "good" and respectable without being taught what it is. No matter what, that's what any "Karen", feeling superior, believes in.
While struggling to become a better person all we can do is being "as aware as possible". Let your aspirations, kindness, best wishes, hopes and love dig into the dark corners of your soul. I assure you, there will be light, even though it may only last for a short while. Never mind, it was there and I'm sure it left some traces of your good will to be what you aren't and never shall become in full: A perfect human being, respectable and pure from top to toe. When you come to terms with your imperfections you may grow, and you may even find out that perfection isn't much without some flaws.
