These egg-shaped, biodegradable burial pods allow your body to become the “seed” of a new tree when you die. It's organic and melts into nature the way the dead are meant to do. Every year Americans cut down 4 million acres of hardwood forest with no other purposa than burying their dead. It's a waste on many levels.
The burial pods germinate and grow into trees as a living memorial to the person who died as designers Anna Citelli and Raoul Bretzel put it. Citelli and Bretzel hope that one day their pods will transform the cold, grey landscape of cemeteries today into vibrant, green forests for the future.
